The rise of bad omens

Bad Omens (Brian Kirks) BRIAN KIRKS

Founded in Richmond, VA, Bad Omens has taken the metal core genre by storm with their uniqueness sound. While vocalist, Noah Sebastian, has an incredible deep scream he also has shown his talent through an incredible singing voice. The band contributes a sort of orchestra flair to their music which adds for an incredible unique sound.

The bands sound has progressed very well over the years. While sticking true to the metal core genre, Bad Omens has brought in a seductive approach to their music. This could be heard on their album “Death of Peace of Mind”. Compared to their albums in their early years, “Bad Omens” (2016) and “Finding God Before He Finds Me” (2019), the band has done very well still incorporating metal with a seductive, acoustic sound. Noah had stuck to strictly contributing screaming and metal style as well as having a harsher scream throughout his music. Then progressed into using more vocals as well as a cleaner “from the chest” scream. This is fairly common for most artist starting out, till obtaining a vocal coach, which in this case Noah works closely with Melissa Cross or Zen of Screaming on Instagram.

Bad Omens had made an appearance in their early years during Warped Tour in 2017. This was around the time when they began gaining traction moving forward. While headlining their first tour with 2020, the tour had to be cut short due to covid. Thankfully they did not let that stop them from continuing their journey. In 2022, their song “The Death of Peace of Mind” had rose to popularity on social media for their seductive but metallic sound. This was generally a more unique sound that had been picked up as well through Sleep Token taking off around the same time.

Bad Omens has also been featured on a song with the band Too Close To Touch as it seems this song had been recorded before the death of Keaton Pierce in 2022. As his vocals can still be heard in the new song “Novocaine”.

The band is currently on a European tour but it is uncertain if the band will be announcing a U.S. tour soon.
